Thanks, Kim. I was initially annoyed when they posted ‘furry’ as the challenge, because I had just finished posting a photo of my two dogs as my entry for the ‘domestic’ challenge. Then I remembered this image.
What I like in this: that I cannot be sure if the girl is real or a doll. Everything in the photo contributes to this intermediate feeling: the colors, yes, they are live, too live maybe, so they could have been doll’s clothes. The light, as from somewhere else, like she is coming from beyond, so human or not? Her smile, frozen in a way, is it a smile? There is something “unheimlich” in this photo, tell me if I’m wrong. She’s “rayed” into the space of the photo, without surroundings, this makes it more intense. And the posture is a waiting one. Neil, it is nice to see the “rebirth” of your site. Are you going to let comments in the main area? I understand this is a gallery from the past?
Fotis
Fotis, thanks for the comments. She’s certainly no Olympia, but yes, somewhat uncanny. I had the sense she wished she were elsewhere at the time. Comments on the main page are now working.
Intriguing subject; neat theme interpretation for Photo Friday
