These photographs were taken in the house of an old man, shortly after he passed away. His wife had died a few years earlier, and he had been living alone. He had relatives who checked in regularly, making sure he was OK.

After he died, they set about cleaning out the house and making it ready to be sold. At the time these photos were taken, this work was almost complete, although there were objects remaining that bore witness to the old man and the life he had lived there.
