Coming to America, I was fascinated by the many ways Americans display their flag. it is used in so many varied contexts that it becomes difficult to understand exactly what is meant by it.

In this ongoing series, I hope to illustrate some of this complexity. The first fourteen images were originally presented as part of the ‘photos from los angeles’ series, immediately after the 2004 presidential election.
